SPRING BREAK TRIP 3/11: Eastland, Baird, Abilene, Sweetwater

Eastland, 1928.
Architect: Lang & Witchell

There is an embalmed horned toad (Old Rip) on display here.... supposedly hibernated in the cornerstone of the old courthouse for 31 years until he was freed when the new one was built and he died a year later of pneumonia.   Hmmmmm....
Cute town!
We had lunch in DeLeon, at the Blue Moon Cafe, which was really good!

Baird, 1929.
Architect: Voelcker & Dixon

There is an old jail (1873) and a contemporary one too.

Abilene, 1971.
Architect: Tittle, Luther, Loving, Lee
Downtown Abilene is neat.

Sweetwater, 1977.
Architect: Welch & Hampton
Getting a facelift?
