Franklin, Bryan, Brenham courthouses, Feb. 12, 2011

Franklin courthouse, 1883.
Architect: F. E. Ruffini
One of the oldest still in use!
On our way here, we had a lovely lunch at Lee's Landing in Rockdale.

Franklin jail.

Bryan courthouse, 1965.
Architects: Caudill, Rowlett & Scott
UGH!  There's plywood on some of the windows!  This is definitely one of the ugliest courthouses.
The drive from Franklin to here was gorgeous.

Brenham courthouse, 1939.
Architect: Travis Broesche
Brenham is home to Blue Bell Ice Cream, which has fun tours during the week (closed on weekends), and a lovely downtown.

Detail from the Brenham courthouse - I love the eagle and the window!  And you can see Christmas lights still...

From Brenham we drove through Round Top and Warrenton, which are cool little towns.  Round Top has a big antiques festival twice a year.  The drive was lovely.
