2/11-2/12 kaufman, rockwall, greenville, bonham, sherman, mckinney, dallas, waxahachie & hillsboro

Kaufman, 1955.
Architect: A. Warren Morey & McGill
Kaufman is home to the oldest drug store in Texas, operated by the same family until 2006. It's now a quilting store.

Rockwall, 2011.
Architect: Brinkley Sargent
WHOA!  The tiniest county has the most ostentatious, enormous courthouse!

Greenville, 1929.
Architect: C. H. Page

Bonham, 1965.
Architect: W. C. Dodson & Dudley
Bonham is a nice town - we had a good lunch at Victor's Italian Restaurant.

Sherman, 1936.
Architect: Voelcker & Dixon

McKinney, 2007.
Architect: PGAL
Looks like Rockwall took a page from McKinney's book.... Pretty huge for a Dallas suburb.

Old Red, Dallas, 1890.
Architect: Orlopp & Kusener
Now a museum. One of President Kennedy's last sights before his assassination.

Newest Dallas courthouse, 1966.
Architects: Broad, Nelson, Corgan & Associates, Thomas, Jameson, Merrill, Smith, Waeder

Waxahachie, 1897.
Architect: James Riely Gordon designed it but had nothing to do with its execution.
Fabulous.
Looks like the interior is gorgeous too - we will be back to visit!  Lovely town too!

New Waxahachie courts, but the old building is still in use too.

Hillsboro, 1890.
Architect: W. C. Dodson
Looks lovely inside too - we need to go back to visit!

  1. Hillsboro is a near complete reconstruction; after it burned in 1993, nothing but the outer shell was left, but citizens banded together to save the old building rather than raze it. Among other efforts to raise funds for the restoration, Willie Nelson played a benefit concert for it.
