San Marcos, New Braunfels, Seguin courthouses, Feb. 5, 2011

San Marcos marker.

San Marcos courthouse, 1908.
Archtect: C. H. Page
Oddly enough, there were no war memorials outside. This courthouse is seen for a moment in the film "The Getaway" - the old one with Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw!

New Braunfels courthouse, 1898.
Architect: James Riely Gordon
Same architect as Giddings - notice the rounded corners - and the unfortunate addition.
2013 update: This courthouse has since been restored back to her original glory - the addition is now gone!

We stopped at Naegelin's Bakery, which is always a treat!  Faust Brewery and Inn has rooms and brews, the brews are good.  Wurstfest is a German sausage festival that's held in November every year - worth the trip!

Seguin courthouse, 1935.
Architect: L. M. Wirtz
Has an elaborate Veterans' Memorial and the largest pecan in the world.

Who knew?

Wow we didn't know that pecans were a New World food item!  Cool!
